Role of Referees

Many referees in youth soccer are developing officials. Their role includes:

  • Ensuring player safety
  • Managing the flow of the game
  • Teaching and guiding players when appropriate

Expectations for Coaches

  • Support referees at all times
  • Do not challenge or argue calls
  • Set a respectful example for players and spectators

Referee development is an important part of the game—support is essential.
